Sourced by the CHRO of a multinational corporation operating a leading global marketplace for digital services, I was asked to critically assess and enhance the effectiveness of the people team and their strategic direction.
(Listed on NYSE, mature growth stage, ~800 people)

The Dilemma

The corporation faced challenges in ensuring the people team's operations, collaboration, and HR plans were optimally contributing to the organization's goals. There was a need for a comprehensive review to identify areas for improvement, particularly in terms of team structure and succession planning.

Approach and Implementation

The review process included:

  • Conducting one-on-one interviews with each team member and discussions with key stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the current functional structure, team dynamics and effectiveness.

  • Assessing the operational management of the people team, including how they collaborate internally and the impact of their work on generating organizational momentum.

  • Evaluating the long-term succession prospects of the team

  • Providing the CHRO with detailed feedback, highlighting areas of strength and recommending actions for addressing identified gaps.

Solution and Outcome

The feedback to the CHRO offered a clear path for enhancements, focusing on improving collaboration, operational efficiency, and aligning HR initiatives more closely with the company’s broader objectives. This laid the groundwork for a more robust and future-proof people strategy.
